Alaska Day…

Did you know…

… that today is Alaska Day? On this day in 1867, the US formally took possession of Alaska after purchasing the territory from Russia for $7.2 million, or less than two cents an acre. That would be about $125 million in today’s pricing. The purchase comprised 586,412 square miles, about twice the size of Texas, and was championed by William Henry Seward, the secretary of state at the time. Happy birthday, Alaska!~~~

Today’s Inspirational Quote:

“We must let go of the things we are not responsible for in others, in order for peace to reign in our lives. We give accountability back to them for their own choices in life while freeing us from the unnecessary stress of things we have no power to change.”— Robert Ricciardelli
